Canto Technologies deployed a new primary 'domain' server at Multiplex this weekend, migrating all users, email, calendars, contacts and files in the process. The project has taken some time, but has been a a resounding success for all involved - see what Multiplex had to say about their experiences here .
This new server compliments previous work done with an earlier server deployment that provides 'virtual' environments (leveraging VMware technology) to abstract and consolidate the numerous software products in use at Multiplex.
Through prior migration of third-party software products into dedicated 'virtual' environments, Canto Technologies were able to isolate each product (into 'live' and 'test' environments) which minimised dependencies while also releasing resources and improving stability on their ageing existing server.
This in turn made deployment of the new domain server at Multiplex a far simpler and less risky undertaking. This morning saw minimum disruption of normal activities to staff adjusted to minor changes - most were unaware that anything had fundamentally changed.
